Who do you say that I am?

Who is God to you and I? Is it possible that you know the God preached to you by your Pastor, parents and Sunday school’s teacher?

The first 16yrs of my life, I attended the church my parent chose. I didn’t know much about God, the little I knew of Him was to be afraid of Him. The picture I had of Him was just not good at all.

I am so glad that I was able to discover Him for myself; do not be one of those that don’t know who He is.

Do you know who God is to you? Have you taken the time to seek Him out? To hear His voice? Oh yes, God does have a voice and He speaks.

There are many references in the Bible of God speaking; do you think that was back then? Do you prefer to hear Him speak just through your pastor?

Many people have different interpretation of God. What God is to me may be different from you. No one have a corner on God and He won’t be put in a box.

In Matt16:13 He asked His disciples, ‘’who do men say that I, the son of man, am? The response varied from John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah or prophet etc.

Jesus then asked V15 ‘’But who do you say that I am? Jesus asked this for a reason, He is interested in a one on one relationship with us. A deeper and intimate relationship just doesn’t happen by attending church alone.

Church attendance is good, if all we do is show up once or twice a week and don’t bother to pray and read our Bible ourselves, then how do you build a relationship with Him?

How do you know if you are taught the right or wrong doctrine?

In any relationship, you have to invest time to get to know the other person. It’s no different with God too. Jesus spent time with His disciples, hence Simon Peter’s reply in verse 16: You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

At one point in my life, I didn’t think I would be able to have children. Now I have two (I am still amazed) it was all God’s doing. So you can image, for me God is truly my provider. What was impossible with man is possible with God.

The scriptures come alive when we have a deeper fellowship with Him. I know indeed that children are a heritage from the Lord. The fruit of the womb is a reward (ps127:3)

Through my desire to know Him, this psalm captures who He is to me. PS18:2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

If we don’t invest the time to get to know Him, the world will tell you who He’s not. Don’t take my word for it.

Dig deep for yourself.
