Day 23 – Thankful For Our Troops
I am thankful for our troops, stationed around the world. As an Emigrant I am especially grateful to our troops; the family and home they leave behind to protect our freedom. When you are from a nation that has been through civil unrest and no law and order, you really learn to appreciate where there is law and order, where the rule of law is applied and protection of its people is priority.
Today, I join so many in praying for the safe return of our troops to their families. I pray that God will keep their marriages and families intact. That God will heal all emotional and physical wounds they carry.
Today, I salute you all for paying the price to protect my life.
There are so many ways we can show our support for our troops. Check out this site: http://www.military.com/
Day 24 ~ Thankful for the United States Of America
I am thankful for America and epecially thankful that my daughter now knows how to sing the “God Bless America” song and is driving me crazy by singing it non-stop!
As we tuck into our thanksgiving meal (No Turkey this year), its easy to take the freedom we enjoy for granted.
Our country is not perfect but no country is. We are a strong nation and our roots run deep. Our foundation is strong and firmly in God.
We are proud and at our core we are united. We are the most generous nation on the planet. For that alone God will continually bless the United States of America.
I am thankful to be an American, the freedom to worship God without fear and threat of death.
Freedom to vote without intimidation and violence. Freedom of expression without repercussions.
What I am mostly grateful for is that I can raise our children in peace and they have hope of a better future.
Day 25 ~ Thankful For Our Life Group
Adey and I lead a monthly Life group meeting (first Monday of every month). Initially when we were asked to lead the group, I had some hesitation. I wasn’t sure if I was up to the task. Well, its been over a year that we have been leading the group. I have come to appreciate our group and what a blessing it has been to us. God has sent us the most amazing people that are just hungry for more of Him and truly desire to grow in the Lord.
What Are Life Groups?
Life Groups are small groups of people (within our church) who meet regularly in order to study the Bible, connect with others, and challenge each other to be more like Jesus. It’s a great way to meet new friends, grow in your relationship with God and make a difference. Everyone is welcome.
If you are ever in the Houston Area and would like to be part of a group of people that study and pray together, send me an email and I can get the information to you.
Day 26 ~ Thankful for Google and Twitter – I am a social media junkie. I use Google as my only search engine (sorry Bing). I simply don’t remember life before Google. How did I survive without searching for recipes, homemade cleaning solutions and directions? Google is my ‘go to’ for everything, its ridiculous!
Twitter – I love Twitter for quotes and discovering new blogs. I tend to save my favorite quotes on Twitter and later use the quotes in my blogs. If I am not following you already, follow me now and I promise to follow back in return. JustBuky
What about Facebook? Dont get me started. I do like Facebook too but I am currently taking a break from FB hence its not mentioned.
Many thanks to all my Twitter followers.
Day 27 ~ The Bible
I am an avid reader. I enjoy reading books that teach and inspire me. I don’t read women’s magazines, fiction, romance or science fiction. No matter how great a book is, I have found that nothing can be compared to the Bible. When all else fails to inspire me, I can always rely on the Bible for that timely Word.
Psalms and the book of Proverbs are my favorite books. Anyone can read these 2 books and immediately gain knowledge, wisdom and encouragement.
God’s language is the Word of God and when He speaks to you He talks to you out of the scriptures you have read. If you don’t take the time to read it then how can He talk to you?
I have found that the scriptures that I know are the ones that work for me. I am thankful for the Bible, the inspired Word of God revealed through the Holy Spirit.
I am thankful for the Word that never fails to inspire me. Its the engrafted Word that is able to save my soul (James 1:21)
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”Psalm 119:105
Day 28 – Thankful For My Wigs
What? What? Wig? Did you say wigs? Yes! LOL.
On a lighter note guys, I am thankful for my wigs. In the last one year I have gone natural. Afro natural, as in I chopped off my permed hair.
The path to going natural has taken me to wig wearing. My hair is growing pretty good but with natural hair you have to be pro-active. If I dont twist my hair the night before, I can’t even show my face to the public the next day! My hair is as kinky as can be; full, thick and growing fast. My hair and I have become too close for comfort and the only way to put distance between us is to wear a wig.
Wearing a wig comes with holy fear and trepidation. My son Joshua has a strong grip on him, he would love nothing better than to yank my wig off. So I wear it at my own risk, I say special prayers on Sunday so that he wont yank it off in the middle of church service!
I am not a fan of wigs, but i don’t have a choice when I am having a bad hair day. My nerves have been paying big time for wearing them so I am giving it a break for now. Still, I am thankful to them for being my back up on the days I needed to dash out of the house quickly.
Day 29 – Thankful for completing this list
I am so thankful that I finally completed this list. As much as I have enjoyed the process, I have also realised that I have so much more to be thankful for. It was quite difficult choosing what to be thankful for.
Next year I am just going to do a list only, that way I wont have to leave anything OR anyone out.
Day 30 – Thank You Lord
If I had 10,000 tongues, I could not thank the Lord enough.
I am thankful to the Lord for creating me as a woman and for dying for my sins. I am thankful for my salvation and the ministry of reconciliation.
I am thankful that God saved me from darkness and brought me into His light. I am loved and chosen to be called the daughter of the Most High God.
I shudder to think where I would be today if not for Jesus Christ who paid the price for all my sins.
Thank you Lord for being patient with me on a daily basis even when I am not the same with others.
Thank you for forgiving and forgetting my sins even when I struggle to forgive others.
Thank you for loving me when I am unlovable and just being unreasonable.
Thank you for seeing me through 3 C-sections in 6 years, I do not take it for granted.
Thank you for giving me a free will even though I sometimes use it wrongly.
I am grateful for all you have done in 2011 and I am already jumping for joy for what you are about to do in 2012.
Lord, you have been too good to me and all our family. Thank you Lord for everything .
