Imagine me holding your face in my hands looking straight into your beautiful eyes, saying those very words to you in my beautiful (so I have been told) African accent, “YOU ARE LOVED”. You are so loved by God and you deserve someone who will not only appreciate your good but love your bad too. Let’s be honest, we’ve all got a crazy side. Well, maybe just me! I know it and my darling husband of almost 11 years knows it too.
From my teenage years I noticed that I don’t have that great relationship with my mom like most girls do. A part of me wanted her to be the one I tell all my secrets to without repercussion. The one I run to in time of trouble, but sadly it wasn’t to be. It left me feeling like I was difficult to love, difficult to get along with. The more I tried the more misunderstood I felt and you could say rejected.
Those same feelings reappeared during my previous marriage and divorce. I sometimes wondered if I was loveable. In fact my divorce made me believe that no one would put up with me talk less stick around. Throughout my journey, mammas keeps showing up in my life, loving me and affirming me. Secretly I expected them to leave and I prepared myself so that it wouldn’t hurt so much.
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:17-19 NIV)
God’s love has been constant when others left; He’s always waiting with open arms. For so long I put others before God. You see, all I’ve ever known is how to love by what was demonstrated to me and around me. So I keep repeating the crazy cycle; Even when God was there I keep taking Him for granted. God’s love is different, unlike humans who love you when you are pleasing and they can get something from you. God’s love is unconditional, no ulterior motive, not based on my goodness. He loves you no matter what, you don’t have to perform to earn His love.
You are not difficult to love. You are perfect in your imperfections. And God has some amazing people who will love you faults and all.
God’s love is all-encompassing; it fills up the void, its overflowing and satisfying. We are able to forgive and love others out of His consuming love and able to withstand rejection.
God’s love is the ONLY LOVE that matters. You are well and truly loved!
My prayer for you today is that God Himself will fill your heart and soul with His love as you call out to Him to fill every void in your life. May you be rooted and established in the power of His love and you are able to forgive and love others. May your life and those around you be transformed forevermore. Amen!
