Lesson Learned: People Are People

I’ve learned that people are people on the inside. Race and ethnicity are mere camouflage and at the core we are totally the same. We hurt, laugh, cry, dream, desperately lonely, in need of love and a family to call our own.

This much I know after living on 3 continents (Africa, Europe & North America) People are people. There are still many great people all over the world. There is good & bad in all races and only God is perfect.

Be a force for good. Be an agent of change. We can’t expect people to change until we are willing to be transformed.

This Is Who You Are!
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. (1 Pet 2:9 ESV)

Lesson Learned: People Are People

Valentine’s Day: Your Heart Is Not A Guinea Pig

Your heart is not a guinea pig that anyone can experiment with.
You deserve a love that will last long past Valentine’s Day.

Don’t be in a haste for love.  You are not left behind, neither are you playing catch up. Don’t give your heart to the wrong person who will only abuse your goodness. Hold out for someone who will appreciate your worth and celebrate you. Successful relationships are developed through kneading of heart and connection of spirit.

Your Words Portray The State Of Your Heart

Those who have low opinions of themselves often speak ill of others. You cannot draw clean water out from a polluted well. Neither can you give to others what you don’t have in you to give.

Your words portray the state of your heart. Your words reveal your emotions. Your words can either draw people or push them away.

The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. (Luke 6:45)

Don’t expect those who do not have a healthy opinion of themselves to have one of you.

Out of the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, this should not be!
Is it possible that from one spring, sweet and bitter waters go out? James 3:10-11

PRAYER: Dear God, forgive us for speaking ill of others and having a wrong image of ourselves. Heal our heart from unforgiveness and low self-esteem. Heal our soul and fill us with Your love. From now on, help us to be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger. Amen.

When God Has Made You The Head, You Don’t Need To Fight The Tail.

We need to constantly remind ourselves of whose we are and who we are. Sometimes we forget that we are more than conquerors and we are victorious. When God has made you the head, you don’t need to fight the tail.

Pick your battles wisely. Some battles are not worth your time. Sometimes the wisest thing you can do is to walk away. Never engage in a battle with an unworthy opponent. You already have the advantage! Let Go & Let GOD.

The LORD will make you the head and not the tail, and you only will be above, and you will not
be underneath, if you listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, which I charge
you today, to observe them carefully. (Deuteronomy 28:13)

Head Not Tail

Vent To God: Get It Off Your Chest.

God cares for you, so turn all your worries over to Him. 1 Peter 5:7

If you spend your time talking to God about everything, you’ll be less likely to vent your feelings to everyone.

Want to get something off your chest?
There is nothing pretty about venting. Lashing out is ugly. Venting is a turn off and no one is listening or taking you serious. No one vents when they are happy. Venting is a negative form of expression; it accomplish nothing, only making matter worse. Calm down and take it to God. God is the perfect person to vent to, He’s a great listener and your secrets are safe with Him. Many times we speak out of our emotions without thinking, too late – the damage is done. Venting to God rather than to everyone saves us from dealing with the fall out and embarrassment afterwards.

Take your frustrations to God, not to the phone or social media. A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back. (Proverbs 29:11)

The best part about venting to God is, you can actually hear yourself, and more than likely,  you may have a change of heart later. Problem solved: no one needs to know except for God.

You Are Responsible For The Atmosphere You Create.

You’re a spiritual being with creative power. You are responsible for the atmosphere you create. Success thrives where peace, love and unity reign supreme.

In our ignorance we blame everyone for our predicaments. Not knowing that we have the power to create and change our atmosphere and circumstances. We are not powerless and weak; God has given us the power to create.

February: The Month Of Love

There is no distance in love. The people we love are never far away, we carry them in our hearts. When all is said and done; you will never forget how someone made you feel.

Everyone and everything conspiring against you are blessings in disguise. Look for the blessing in all things.

Bless those who hurt you. Bless those who take advantage of you.
Bless those who despise you. Bless those who hate you.
Bless those who bless you. Bless those who curse you.
Bless those who wish you ill.
Bless those who persecute you.
Bless those who use and abuse you.
When you bless others you are indirectly blessing yourself.

May you be richly blessed with great friends and a loving family of your own.

A Second Chance

Give Love & Friendship A Second Chance.
We’ve all been hurt and it’s easy to put up walls than risk getting hurt again. Give love and friendship a second chance. I’m not saying it would be easy. I’m not suggesting you jump back where you left off: Take baby steps, and gradually start trusting again. Be open to the idea and extend an olive branch to others.

You are a human being with emotions. Don’t be ashamed of your brokenness. Flesh and blood is susceptible to wear and tear. Healing and self-care brings clarity and wholeness.

Second chance

Just Showing Up Is Not Enough

Just showing up is not enough. Be all there and reliable.

Just showing up is the norm. Just showing up is the least anyone would expect from us. Everyday people are showing up just because.

On the job:People are showing up for jobs they don’t like. In marriages; many couples are in loveless marriages and are emotionally unavailable.

At home: While parents may be present they are no involved in their children’s life.

In Churches: Yes we show up but are we plugged in? Are you serving and growing in your spiritual gifts? These are just few of the reasons why I believe that just showing up is not enough!

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. Colossians 3:17, NLT.

If you want to live a more meaningful life, not just existing and getting by. You have to do more than showing up – BE ALL THERE AND RELIABLE. Anyone can show up but when you are all there, ALL IN and reliable – You stand out! People take notice, you add value to everything you touch, our families and communities will thrive and flourish. When we are engaged, God is able to use us to meet the needs of those around us.

Show up. Be engaged. Give your best.

Showing up

One of my goals this year is committing to less so that I can give my best. Doing less but giving more of my time to my loves, passion and honoring my commitments.

Everything is permitted, but everything isn’t beneficial. Everything is permitted, but everything doesn’t build others up. 1 Corinthians 10:23, CEB.

Seeking God about everything helps. Really everything? Yeah! One thing that became glaringly obvious to me last year is: I am not as smart as I think I am. Duh! I am not capable of running my life smoothly. I need God in every area of my life, especially when I think “I got this!” Child, please!

For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Galatians 6:3, NASB.

Prayer: Dear God,  Help us to find our rightful place in Your body and our community. Help us to honor our commitments. May we become known as a people of honor, love and devotion.

Lesson Learned: Rejections, Trials and Delays

I’ve learned that rejections, trials and delays are not entirely bad or from the devil. They help us to pause, evaluate, see the bigger picture and stay focused on God.

QOTD: Try Something New

If what you did last year didn’t get you the result you hoped for, maybe its time to try something new.

“No one puts new wine into old wineskins: otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost, and so are the skins: but one puts new wine into fresh wineskins” (Mark. 2:22).

New Year + Old habits = Repeating the past.

Prayer For The New Year

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6)

My prayer for you this new year is that you will move away from every form of religion onto a relationship with God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. That you may take your rightful place as an heir to the kingdom to rule and reign as an ambassador for Jesus Christ. Then you can fulfill your kingdom purpose and be mightily used by God and through you many lives will be saved for Christ sake. Lacking in nothing but full of wisdom, power, authority and love from above. May Christ be revealed in and through you and may you showcase the excellency of our God. Amen.

The same God who saw you through last year will see you through the new year. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He is for you and not against you. He will never abandon or forsake you. His love and promises are for eternity. He does not change His mind, neither sleep or slumber. He’s a faithful Father and friend. For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

Happy New Year dear friends, brothers and sisters in Christ. Here we are again at the dawn of a brand new year. May your heart be tender and your hope be strong in the Lord. Knowing that He who has  called you is faithful. Thank you for all your well wishes, prayers and encouragements. May your grow from strength to strength and glory to glory in Jesus’ name. Amen!

happy new-year

Isn’t It Time You Pick Yourself?

God personally handpicked you. Isn’t it time you pick yourself?

Jesus’ birth was surrounded in mystery, shame and scandal. It was the talk of the town; an illegitimate child was not a joking matter back then and even now. People talked then, nothing has changed now. Joseph and Mary endured the shame and gossip. Oftentimes we think we are the only ones affected.

God chose Mary & Joseph. You are not here by accident; God chose you. Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!” (Luke 1:28) While Joseph ponder on what to do about their situation. “An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 1:20)

God handpicked Jesus from his name down to his purpose and destiny. Isn’t it time you discover what God says about you?

And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” (Luke 1: 31-33)

You have not chosen the way you were born. But from today onwards, you can choose the way you live your life. Don’t just live for living sake. Live for Christ. Live a life worth emulating. Live well. Be unforgettable.

Here’s what God says about you!
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9 ESV)

Dwelling on the past will never change the present and future. Blaming others and not taking responsibility Is a hopeless and powerless way to live. Years of lie and deceit will never get you to fulfill your destiny talk less of being happy.  You can break the cycle by being truthful to yourself. You alone know the areas to work on. Take your life back.

Jesus was not immune from slander and gossip. He rose above it and so will you. You are here now. You made it against all odds. It hasn’t been easy, it’s never is.

Isn’t it time you pick yourself?

Live Your Life Not The Joneses

You can live what some would call an average life and be blissfully happy with a humble and grateful heart. Or then again you can choose to live what others would call a successful life, up to your eyeballs in debt, totally stressed out and miserable. The choice is yours. Whatever you do, make sure you’ve defined success and happiness for yourself. It’s your life, live it – not the Joneses.

The rich and famous aren’t necessarily happier than you.

Live Your Life

Break Free To Dream Big

May you break out of the self-imposed prison of your mind. There is a giant in you, desperate to break free. Lose yourself from the shackles! Nobody is going to do it for you. You hold the KEY!

In my distress I prayed to the LORD, and the LORD answered me and set me free. (Psalm 118:5)

You have to break free to dream BIG. Until you break free, you will not experience your breakthrough!

God, Help us to break every bad habits we’ve formed that are holding us back from fulfilling our purpose and having a breakthrough. Amen!

Break free to dream big

Hush and Listen

Hush. Be quiet and listen.

It’s not the noise outside that silences the voice of God; It is the noise within.

After the earthquake there was a fire. But the Lord wasn’t in the fire. And after the fire there was a quiet, whispering voice. (1 Kings 19:12)

Sad truth; many believers do not know His voice but are well acquainted with the voices of Pastors and Celebrities. God is alway speaking but we don’t know His voice because we have not spent enough time to get to know His voice.

Now is the time to practice the act of seeking, hearing and knowing God’s voice for yourself. Every follower of Christ ought to know His voice.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. (Revelation 3:20)

It Is Well

No matter how dark and scary life gets, there is always a ray of hope to wrap your faith around. See it with your eyes of faith and hold on tight.

Whatever you are going through I want you to keep in mind “God is already there.” He has gone ahead of you to make the crooked places straight. It is well.

God will make a way where there seems to be no way. Don’t give up hope, persevere and continue to trust God. It is well.

Whose help are you seeking?

The Shunammite woman sought Elisha’s help. Let God help you in all your endeavors. There is no honor in struggling alone; your help is only a prayer away.

It’s a new day! Forget yesterday’s mistakes. Sing a new song of redemption and victory. God is on your side, it is well. Amen!

I wait for the LORD, my soul does wait, And in His word do I hope. (Psalm 130:5)

Take A Break From All Your Worries

The world will not come to an end if you put yourself first for a change. Life will go on without you. You are not in control of the universe – God is. Take a break from all your worries. Pray more – worry less.

Worrying leads to depression. Praying leads to peace. Pray and talk it over with God. Meditate on His goodness and thank Him for answered prayers.

When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. (Psalm 56:3)

Take a break from all your worries
