Its true, you are not called to everyone If you get this one thing settled in your spirit my friends; you will handle rejection better knowing there are many more fish in the sea!
You are NOT the Holy Spirit. Your are not called to everyone. You can’t save everyone. Do your part and leave the rest to the Holy Spirit.
As new converts, we are eager to share the love of Christ with the world. It can be frustrating and disappointing when others won’t embrace the Good News of Jesus Christ.
It’s only natural when you’ve been delivered from the power of darkness to save others and so they can taste how great life is in the light of God. But sadly you can’t save everyone.
You can’t do it all in your own power and most importantly you can’t get offended. It’s not personal.
Jesus warned His disciples of rejection and we must not be discouraged in sharing the good news. Folks, it’s not about you, so don’t be offended.
Jesus tells us what to do (Mark 6:11) And if any place will not receive you and they will not listen to you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them.”
Remember, even you, not so long ago rejected the word of God when it was first preached to you. I know I did. Many times when I had the opportunity to receive Christ, I rejected Him. Once I received Christ, I now see those people were sowing the seeds for others to water.
We the redeemed, who were once sinners, now saved by grace have the responsibility to extend that same grace to others.
Be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and don’t put all your efforts on someone who is unwilling to receive Christ. Continue to love and pray for them and reach more for Christ. For everyone who rejects the gospel, there are hundreds more whose hearts are willing to receive it.
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Heb 4:12 ESV)
Food for Thought
You are NOT the Holy Spirit. Your part is to sow the gospel seed, while others water your efforts, praying and believing in the Lord’s time there will be harvest.
Prayer
Father, please give us wisdom to know the best way to share the message of Jesus with unbelievers. Give us the courage and boldness to speak up. Help us Lord to overcome rejection and not be discouraged. Teach us to walk in Your love always in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!
Hello Buky. I was inspired by your blog which I came across in a search for “Gibbor”, one of the names of God. I certainly had no intention of commenting, but somehow I could not leave your blog and I read on. So I hit the back button and here I am. I have been challenged to write devotional tidbits by a friend but I haven’t done so. Maybe it’s because I don’t really believe it could have an impact. Reading your blog reminds me that it’s not about me at all…who, when and how it impacts is not my business, I just need to be obedient.
Thanks.
Collette, you nailed it. It’s not about you, just obey and allow God to use your gift. You got this, start with what you have now. Don’t let another day go by, leave the ifs and buts to God. The more you put out the more God will put into you for others. Thank you for your kind comment, you’ve blessed and encouraged me today. Sending you love and well wishes with your devotional. Send me a link to your site, it would be my honor to encourage you. A giving person will receive much in return, and someone who gives water will also receive the water he needs. Proverbs 11:25
Amen and amen. I needed this. Sometimes it seems my efforts aren’t making any impact.
I’m right there too but overtime, I’ve learned if I keep doing the things I truly believe in: it will surely pay off in the end. May your efforts be fruitful.
