Have you ever wondered how come some people are blessed with so many gifts and talents? They can design, write and sing, cook, a domestic goddess with flawless makeup!
If we are honest, sometimes it can really rub us the wrong way. Yup! You’ll be so wrong to think they were born that way; born lucky and gifted. Hogwash! We’re all born with loaded potentials waiting to be discovered. God is a good God and a loving Father; He loves every one of us and has no favorite.
I love how God keeps using our children to teach me lessons! I’m not just raising them: God is raising me through them.
So our children’s aunt gave them a gift card for some goodies. The boys got some games, cookies, and candy. Faith got a coloring book, drawing pencils, candy and among others. They immediately got to work, having fun exploring, learning and enjoying their gifts. Faith got busy drawing, page after page. She’s coloring and showing off her creation. Days later, Faith was still at it, giddy with excitement and by now the boys were slightly driving me crazy fighting over their games.
I love how much they enjoyed their gifts. And I thought to myself “I would gladly buy them more gifts for no special occasion”, just because I enjoyed watching them put their gift to good use immediately. STOP! Hmmm… Wait a minute. Aha!
Here is a revelation! If I as a parent feels that way, how much more does our heavenly Father feel about us using our gift and talent? Think about that!
One gift leads to many… Could it be, that the reason why
others are discovering and doing new and greater things is that they are using their gift and talent now? They are not putting their gift on the shelf waiting for a better one. Hmm… Ponder on that.
Maybe that is why it seems like God isn’t blessing some of us with more? We keep asking Him to bless us with more, while God is wondering – Child, WHAT FOR? Why do you need another when you’ve not used what you have?
We won’t realize our potential if we don’t get on and use what God had already blessed us with.
NOTE TO SELF: Stop underestimating your gifts and talents. Not everyone can do what comes naturally and intuitively to you.
“Your gift will make room for you.” (Proverbs 18:16)
Each of us has a God-given gift. Because it’s a gift, we have done nothing to deserve or earn it: often we treat it as such.
We are born equal, but our paths are different. When we operate in our God-given gift –
no competing, no rivals.
Instead of asking God for another gift or talent, ask for courage, boldness and the confidence to step out in faith using what He has already blessed you with. Use what you’ve got and God will bless you with more.
