As a mother of three children (one Middle-schooler and two in Elementary), we are stuck at home together with the treat of Coronavirus around.
Our lives, our world as we know it has come to an abrupt stop. This season especially harder for working parents, single parents, those working in the medical professions, first responders, essential services, ministries, elderly, special needs, those with medical conditions, and so much more, but you get the gist.
I’ve had a lot of updates from my local school district. While I appreciate their concern for our children’s education – the children are having a blast! Who doesn’t enjoy time off school? Duh!
The pressure on teachers to engage with parents and students via online learning is driving me up the wall.
Teachers are humans too. They are parents, husbands, and wives, sisters, brothers, uncles and aunties, grandparents. They are in this too. They are affected just like the rest of us. Teachers have their own children to care for at home. They have responsibility for their elderly parents, family members, and friends. They are volunteers, pillars of our communities. Teachers are human beings too.
Can we ease off and give teachers a break!
Parents, parent your children. That includes teaching and caring for their overall well-being in this season. It can’t be that hard spending time with the children you brought into the world, which you profess to love. Okay!
My thoughts and prayers are with you all, parents, teachers, pastors, and those in leadership alike.
We are in this together and will get through this by keeping a cool head and supporting one another.
Stay blessed. May God heal our nation.
