Over the years I’ve learned many lessons from my past failed goals. A goal is only effective when it affects every area of my life.
We tend to separate and compartmentalized our life. Wrong! You only have one life. Every area of your life affects each other, your community and the world at large.
This year I have only one goal and that is: To grow in God and press forward to His high calling for my life.
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead. I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14, ESV.
This is a BIG goal. I can’t imagine anything else worth living and dying for. This one goal affects my life, marriage, children, community, purpose, and everything.
Growing in God is growing in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Knowing His voice and applying His Word. To grow in love, righteousness, holiness and walk in the truth. To look for Christ in everything I do, in everyone I meet and in every day I’m alive. He’s the main focus for everything, otherwise, nothing is worth doing.
Everything God does has a purpose. We must intentionally seek, ask and knock, and in return, He will give us His heart, open our eyes if we seek Him in truth.
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15, ESV.
This is the year I will grow in God, pressing forward to His high calling for my life. Lord, this is my desire. Be it unto me. Amen!
Question: What one goal do you have for the year?
